The people
About the clinic
Hope Beyond Borders Clinic is led by a family physician who has worked in Northern Nigeria for several years. The wider team is still being gathered.
The main purpose of HBBC
The main purpose of HBBC is to support the Core North Vision of SIM Nigeria: to reach the least reached and underserved communities through periodic medical outreach to the north; to build the capacity of local health workers; and to support medical students, residents and community health workers to align their professional skills and knowledge with their faith and become missional.
HBBC is a hub that coordinates these efforts, and its Business as Mission model funds the needs of the Core North medical ministry.

Dr. Yohannes Yimer
Founder and lead · Missionary family physician · SIM Nigeria Country Director
Dr. Yimer serves with SIM Nigeria and currently serves as Country Director. He has personally led healthcare among underserved, marginalised and unreached communities. Those years shaped the clinic: clinical standards, practical compassion, and training for local health workers. HBBC was not drawn up from a theory. It came from communities where preventable illness and scarce care are ordinary life.
A portrait and a short personal biography are still to come.
The team we plan to start with
About 12 people: 3 doctors, 4 nurses, a laboratory scientist, 2 pharmacists and 2 admin staff. Names, faces and biographies of the staff are not published yet. Volunteers can join once they understand how the clinic works.
Partners
SIM Nigeria and SIM International
SIM directs and governs HBBC. The project number is 96115.
ECWA
The Evangelical Church Winning All. HBBC is set up with ECWA. ECWA clinics and ECWA Medical Services are partners in outreach and training.
Bingham University and Bingham University Teaching Hospital
Allies and primary partners of HBBC. The clinic is at the SIM Houses inside the BUTH compound, and refers patients to BUTH specialists where needed. SIM founded the hospital in 1959. It was transferred to ECWA in 1976 and became the teaching hospital of Bingham University in 2010.
simnigeria.org · SIM International — Nigeria
HBBC stands on a campus where SIM has practised medicine since 1959. The new clinic continues that story at primary care level, and sends patients on to the teaching hospital when they need more.
